| This is Barry Levitt's great idea for a starting Jig. Hardware is a folding utility hanger (sold in hardware stores) mounted on some 1/2 inch plywood and secured with a couple 12" spikes. Padded hooks have knotches that prevent tail slipping out. Folds flat for storage! Steve Kenny also built a great starting table based on a recent AMA article. See it at the field. |

Dave Hewett's Northrop Gamma. Dave says, "This plane started life as a Schreyer kit from the '70's. I built it with Chinese colors because a number were actually sold to China before the start of WW II, around 1935-7. It had a broken rudder spar and the spats and wheels had to be rebuilt. The cowl was changed from gas to accept a new larger electric motor." |

| An example of painstaking craftsmanship by an unkown builder back in 1938 from Dave Hewett's collection. stick and rudder peddles are actually set up to operate surfaces. Dummy motor made of balsa and paperboard. |

Another of Dave's gems is a 1941-6 Eagle kit of a Lambert Monocoupe, built very light with brushless motor |

Above is Dave's American Ace 54 with a real ignition gas motor in it. |

| This one is a clone of a Berkeley kit of 1939 or so, they called it the American Ace 54, but this version is the original which was a New Ruler. It has brushless electric power, with the top half of an old ignition(with spark plug) Rogers .29 as a dummy and to add weight to the nose. |

This is the rarity of the bunch. I would have never built it if I'd realized how rare it is. It's a Buzzer'd made by Kenhi (Hi Johnson) in 1953, 72" w.s., .35 motor, 250 kits made, under 50 sold, the rest went to the incinerator. |

Here are some more of Dave Hewlett's oldies. All are retrofitted with servos. Dave says, If you like reading about the oldies try to get the paperback "Do you speak model airplane" by Dave Thornburg, it's not cheap but fun. This is the same Dave Thornburg who wrote the book on R/C Soaring. |
