Flightline
by Pete Southwell

Greetings and welcome to the Holiday issue of The Flight Line.  The December meeting was held at the WSWMD office and had a very good turnout of about 10 members.  After the minuets of the past meeting were read new business was brought up and discussed.  Some of the items were as follows:

  • We will be looking into a new canopy for the field next year.  The current tarp is getting a little worn and we may use it for a curtain on the backside for some protection from the sun and wind.
  • A mention was made in regards to flying over Allard Lumber and the Recycling center.  As a reminder, flying over these areas is strictly forbidden during their hours of operation.
  • New covering will be purchased for the cable across the road going into the field
  • Bob Rondeau sent a letter of thanks and a fruit basket to Joe Femolare and the Windham Solid Waste Management in appreciation for the use of the fields .

At the December meeting, Dave Hewitt brought in some of his collection of antique kits.  Some of these were completed and others were partially completed so we could see the intricate work that went into these planes.  Some of these kits dated back to 1938.  To include a helicopter kit that after looking at the instructions, looked almost impossible to put together.  Dave’s knowledge of these vintage kits and the histories of them was very impressive.  Thank you Dave.

The next meeting of the BAFC will be held on January 9th at the Solid Waste conference room at 7:00 pm.

At the February meeting, we will be having a “Swap Meet”.  Start looking around for items that you may want to sell, swap or just get rid of.  If we get enough participation, we may try and do this a couple of times a year.

Also, as a reminder, 2007 dues are now due.  Dues are $40.00 per year and $20.00 for junior members.

I’ve included a few links in this newsletter.  One that was brought in by Bruce Doing is to the page for the 6th Annual Central NH Radio Control Auction that will be held Saturday, January 20th at the Bow Community Center in Bow NH.

In September, I had the chance to visit the Fantasy of Flight air Museum in Polk City Florida.  This is billed as one of the largest private collections of “Flyable” aircraft in the country.  If you get a chance, visit  www.fantasyofflight.com .

Until next time,

Let’s Fly and Fly Safe

Pete
